Japan‘s “Golden Route”

By travelling on the „Golden Route“ you will discover Nippon’s classic highlights. Capitol Tokyo, wonderful Nikko, famous Mt. Fuji area, romantic Ise Shrine and Pearl Island Toba as well as imperial cities of Kyoto & Nara.

Operation once a week every Tuesday with a minimum of one person is guaranteed by arrival from March 2nd and last departure November 23rd 2010.

(except Apr. 27th, Jul. 13th, Aug. 10th, Sep. 14th, Oct. 5th)

Optional extension is possible in Kyoto or Tokyo.

Itinerary (Routing A)

1. Day - Arrive at Tokyo

Agency staff will meet you at the exit of customs and assist you in boarding an airport bus to your hotel.

2. Day - Tokyo

Imperial Palace in Tokyo

Visit Tokyo, one of the world's largest cities. Tokyo's charme comes from the mix of modernity and tradition. Start your sightseeing at Tokyo Tower. The view is unique from observation platform. Afterwards, enjoy a traditional tea ceremony in Happoen Garden. (When Happone Garden is closed, we visit the Meiji Shrine). After lunch we will get off at Imperial Palace Plaza. The following boat-trip on Sumida River grants you a great view over Tokyo's modern skyline. After that, we take a walk through Asakusa Kannon Temple Quarter with it's modern Nakamise Shopping Arcade. Our tour bus takes us back to the hotel by the city's famous shopping quarter Ginza.

3. Day - Tokyo - Nikko - Tokyo

Toshogu Shrine in Nikko

A bus will take us from Tokyo to Nikko. We will visit Nikko National Park with famous Toshogu Shrine. After a Japanese lunch we will drive to lake Chuzenji and Kegon Waterfall. We are back to Tokyo in the evening. The tour ends in Ginza or Shinjuku.

4. Day - Tokyo - Sawara – Tokyo

Around 08:00 a.m. the tour starts from Hotel via Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal to Sawara. Sawara District used to be an important river port on the lower Tone River, and as such it’s now the base to do sightseeing on the river. We visit Suigo Sawara Dashi Museum and have a River Cruise by Traditional Boat. After lunch sightseeing will be continued with Naritasan Shinshoji Temple and Boso no Mura Museum. The tour will disband in Tokyo at Ginza or Shinjuku.

5. Day - Tokyo - Mt. Fuji - Hakone

8-8:45 a.m. from your Hotel via Keio Plaza Hotel to Mt. Fuji area. Sightseeing at Fuji Visitor Center and going up to Mt. Fuji 5th station. After Japanese-style lunch drive with Hakone Ropeway and have a walk to Owakudani Valley. Finally enjoy Pirate Boat on Ashi Lake. From Hakone-machi you will have a transfer to Hotel in Hakone. 5-6pm Stay at Hotel in Hakone.

6. Day - Hakone - Nagoya

Super Express Train Shinkansen

8-9 a.m. Hotel to Odawara Sta. and drive with Shinkansen (Kodama) to Nagoya Sta. Short walk to restaurant with Buffet-style lunch. In the afternoon visit Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology and Nagoya Castle. Around 04:00 p.m. arrive at Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel

7. Day - Nagoya - Toba - Ise - Kyoto

08:30 a.m. leaving Nagoya by Limited Express train to Ise. Visiting famous Ise Jingu Shrine / Okage Yokocho. Japanese-style lunch. After lunch you can have a look to Ama (woman pearl divers) Huts. (Jul. 15-Aug. 30, visit Toba Sea folk museum instead of Ama Huts.) and Mikimoto Pearl Island. From Kintetsu Toba Station by Limited-Express to wonderful city of Kyoto 8:30-9:30 p.m. Stay at Hotel in Kyoto.

8. Day - Kyoto - Nara - Kyoto

Kinkaku-ji

8-8:45 a.m. starting fom Hotel for Kyoto sightseeing, visiting Nijo Castle, Golden Pavilion Kinkakuji and Kyoto Imperial Palace. After Buffet-style lunch drive by motor coach to old capital Nara and visit Todaiji Temple with Great Buddha, Nara Park, Kasuga Shrine and Nara Nagomikan. Return to Kyoto by bus. 6:45-8:00 p.m. Stay at hotel in Kyoto.

9. Day - Kyoto

Traditional Kyoto

Free at your leisure.

10. Day - Kyoto – Kansai Airport

Free at your leisure until departure. By seat sharing van transfer to Osaka Kansai Airport.

9. Day - Kyoto - Tokyo

Traditional quarter in Kyoto

Free at leisure until departure. 5-5:30pm from Hotel to Kyoto Station. Driving with Shinkansen back to Tokyo Station. Transfer to Hotel in Tokyo 8:30-9:30pm Stay at Hotel in Tokyo

10. Day - Tokyo - Narita Airport

Free at leisure until departure. (Departure time is announced to your hotel on the day before departure. TAXI driver will meet you at your hotel and take you to the Narita Airport.
